Private Rooms

Private Rooms are sort of like Private Messages with more people. Several chatters can interact, and no one else in the community can participate.

To create a Private Room:

• Click on the Private Room button above the chat window. Type whatever you'd like into the text field. Make sure you remember what you called it, because you'll use this name to invite others to your room.
• Click Go.
• Your private room is created. It has the same background as the room you were in, but the chatters in that room can no longer see your communications. Note that the tab at the bottom of the window has changed to Private Room.

To enter a Private Room created by someone else:

• Get the name of the Private Room they've created.
• Click on the Private Room button above the chat window.
• Type the room name you've been given.
• Click Go

Private rooms exist only as long as someone is present. In other words, when the last person leaves the room, it goes away. If that sounds confusing, think of it this way: When you're participating in an Instant Message exchange with someone, a connection exists between the two of you - almost like a small personal chat room. When you both say goodbye, that connection is gone until you reestablish it.
