Q: I lost or forgot my password.

You can go to http://reg.vpchat.com/VP/account and click on the "I forgot my password" link to recover any password. It will be sent to the email address on the account.

Q: How do I change my password?
To change your passwords use the following instructions:

1. Click on the Account Info button on the home page
2. Sign In
3. Select Edit Password and Email from the left column
4. Type the current password in the top box
5. Type the new password twice
6. Click Change My Password

You'll see a confirmation screen saying the password has been changed. The new password will be mailed to the email address on the account and can be used immediately.

Q: Where do I send my payment?
You can send your check or money order in US Funds to:

Halsoft.com, Inc.
PO Box 26662
Austin, TX 78755-0662

Please be sure to reference your account number on your payment.

Q: How do I cancel the auto-renewal payment feature?
If you have a subscription directly with VPchat, you can go to http://reg.vpchat.com/VP/account to cancel it. If you have a PayPal subscription, you need to go to www.paypal.com and cancel it there.

Q: Why did my credit card payment fail?
Unfortunately, the bank doesn't usuallygive us information about why payments fail. Make sure your card information is current, especially the expiration date. You can log into your account at http://reg.vpchat.com/VP/changePmtInfo to change your payment information.

Q: I paid via PayPal and the payment was accepted by your company. Why can't I get into chat yet?
If the email address you used with PayPal doesn't match the address you use at VPchat, we might not have been able to find your account. Send your PayPal receipt to billing@vpchat.com for assistance.

Q: I paid via eCheck and my bank has already taken the money out of my account. Why can't I get into chat yet?
EChecks take up to 7 days to process. Once your bank takes the money from you account, the money travels through the FDIC before it arrives at our bank. We apologize for the inconvenience. Contact billing@vpchat.com for further information.

Q: How do I cancel my PayPal subscription?
You have a PayPal subscription. You can log onto your account at www.paypal.com to cancel it.

Q: I set up an account and paid with an eCheck, why can't I chat?
Because check fraud has become such a problem, we have been forced to put a hold on all new accounts that are paid by eCheck until we know that the check will clear. This normally takes 4-6 business days. In most cases, your eCheck will clear your bank before our bank knows about it.

Q: How do I upgrade my account?
You can upgrade your account by going to http://reg.vpchat.com/VP/changeSubscription.

Q: How can I change the account owner's chat name?

  1. Log in at http://reg.vpchat.com/VP/names
  2. If necessary, delete a name so you have at least one open spot on your account.
  3. Add a new name.
  4. Make it the owner by selecting the "owner" radio button next to that name.
  5. Log in as the new owner
  6. Delete the old name

*If you don't know the password for the new owner name, go to http://reg.vpchat.com/VP/account and request the password. It will be sent to the email address on your account.

Q: How do add a chat name?

  1. Sign in at http://reg.vpchat.com/VP/account
  2. Select Manage Names from the left column
  3. In the Add a Name box, enter the new user name
  4. Click Add Name

If the name chose is in use, you will have the opportunity to select a different username. VPchat will email the new password to the email address on the account.

Q: I have a name on someone elses account. Can I get my own account with this name?
You can and it's really simple. Just go to http://reg.vpchat.com/VP/new, and use your current name to sign up for a new account. You'll be asked for your password. Provide it, go through the payment process, and your nickname will be the owner of your new account.

Q: My account expired, and I'd like to turn it back on.
Even though you can't log in to chat, you can still log into your account at http://reg.vpchat.com/VP/account and make a payment to reactivate your account.

Q: Why do you need my ID to cash an eCheck?
Our bank requires an extra form of ID when cashing a check. Typically this is your driver's license number. If you do not have a driver's license, then please provide the number from some other form of ID.

Q: How do I change my subscription?
Use the following instructions to change subscription information:

  1. Click on the Account Info link at the top of the home page
  2. Sign In
  3. Select Change Subscription OR Change Payment Information from the left column

Q: My check bounced, why are you charging me a $15.00 fee?
We are passing on the fee that our bank charges us. Your account will not be reactivated until the fee is paid.

Q: What currency do you accept?
We only accept US dollars.
